Résumé

Quincy Drew (James Garner) et son ami Jason O’Rourke (Louis Gossett Jr.) voyagent à travers les États-Unis en répétant une arnaque bien ficelée. Dans chaque nouvelle ville, Jason se fait passer pour un esclave et Quincy le vend au plus offrant. Il le libère ensuite afin de partager l’argent gagné. Mais leur petit jeu atteint ses limites lorsque Quincy ne parvient plus à libérer Jason…
