Résumé

Maya Cobbina est une brillante avocate et une représentante pro-bono des prisonniers du couloir de la mort aux Etats-Unis. Pendant vingt ans, elle a défendu Rudy Jones, un homme injustement emprisonné pour meurtre. Au moment de son exécution, il a ces derniers mots pour elle : "Défonce-toi". Secouée, Maya retourne à Londres, auprès de sa famille – son mari Nick, son fils Dan et ses filles Clem et Ella. Les derniers mots de Rudy raisonnant toujours en elle, Maya trouve de nouvelles preuves probables pour un procès historique…
